Water Treatment
Keeping the water in your swimming pool, sanitary involves more than just allowing filtered water to fill the pool. In order to keep your swimming pool clean and swimmer-friendly, you need to add either of the two sanitizing options – Chlorine or Bromine.
If you can manage to open the generator every day, you may use Chlorine. If you prefer doing it at a more convenient time, like once a week, you may use Bromine. Chlorine and Bromine are both sanitizers, each having its own advantage.
Aside from being a sanitizer, Chlorine is also an oxidizer. Once Chlorine is added to your pool water, it quickly runs out because it almost instantly kills the bacteria in your pool. It takes longer to activate the effects of Bromine after adding it to your pool water, but its advantage is that it remains active and efficient even after eliminating the bacteria residing in the water. Most people use Chlorine to treat water in pools, and Bromine for spa sanitizing.
Various methods can be performed to introduce these sanitizing agents to the water. In pools, Chlorinators and Generators are usually used. Bromine generators were invented in recent years for spa. Because Chlorine and Bromine work differently, Bromine salt should not be put inside a system designed for Chlorine generation, and vice versa. Spa users also use Tablet Floaters, which are needed to be replaced from time to time.
